This year, MTS received the Podio 2010 Innovation Award for technology advancements designed for Formula 1 (F1) race cars.
Stefano Domenicali, Scuderia Ferrari Team Principal, presented the award to Laura Hamilton, CEO of MTS, at a ceremony held in Maranello, Italy. Domenicali said MTS deserved the award because of its “unique attitude toward innovation” and its competence in re-launching the Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems (KERS) challenge for the 2011 F1 season.
“This is a great example of how strong partnerships move the world forward,” Hamilton said. “In this case, our partnership focused on developing technology that maximizes energy efficiency in Formula 1 vehicles. We are honored to receive the award, and we look forward to strengthening our partnership with Ferrari and taking on new challenges together.”
For more than a decade, MTS has provided aerodynamic, durability and performance testing solutions for Ferrari, including a wind tunnel rolling-road and an electric transmission test system. MTS plans to refine KERS technology further, applying these innovations to electric actuation and improving mechanical testing solutions for both ground vehicles and materials.
